Your (FOD) MAP to bloating
The answer to your bloating? FODMAPs are a group of short chain fermentable carbohydrates that move through your digestive tract either partially digested or not digested at all. Most foods are digested and absorbed in the small intestine. These fodmaps then end up in the large intestine where they are rapidly fermented by (good and bad) gut bacteria.
Fermentation of FODMAPs results in gas production (hydrogen and methane) and may lead to bloating, distension, flatulence and alterations in bowel motions (diarrhoea and/or constipation).

FODMAPs are found in a wide variety of food groups, especially the healthy ones, including particular fruits and vegetables, wheat based products, dairy, legumes, as well as many processed foods.
It is therefore important to know your FODMAPs before restricting them... and keep in mind that you may not be intolerant to them all.
